Although Triveni is a place where the rafting program occurs, the most favorite area for river rafting in Teesta is Melli. Teesta Bazar is a favorite spot for tourists to ride a raft in white water of Darjeeling. Different courses for river rafting are available at Darjeeling for participants depending on their ability in swimming. Non-swimmers can attend the courses either from Melli to 29th Mile, for the duration of 1.5 hours or from Melli to Kalijhora, for 3 hours. Only swimmers can participate in the courses from Tarkhola to Melli for 2 hours and Tarkhola to 29th Mile for 3 hours. While you are planning for rafting white water in Darjeeling, you should avoid the time of July to September as Teesta takes a ferocious form during monsoon, otherwise the rest of the year, especially from December to June, is appropriate for having a raft ride in the rivers of Darjeeling.
